An artist residency is offered for one Finnish or Finland-based ceramist or visual artist at Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park (SCCP), Shiga prefekture. The residency is organized by the Finnish Institute in Japan in collaboration with the SCCP. The six-week residency takes place 15.10.-30.11.2025.
The meaning of the artist-in-residency program is to offer one artist an opportunity to work in an innovative and professional artist community working with ceramic art (https://www.sccp.jp/e/). From potential visual artists we require interest towards ceramics or Shigaraki culture.
The residency program covers the artist’s travel and accommodation costs, material and shipping costs according agreement, as well as workspace at the SCCP. The artist commits to offer a report of the residency results. In addition, a small exhibition can be organized based on the artist’s work in Shigaraki.
The application shall be written in English and include CV, portfolio, and a working plan. Send the application before April 9th, 6PM (GMT +2) to culture@finstitute.jp.
