Shigaraki

Shigaraki Artist Residency

The Shigaraki Artist Residency is offered to one Finnish or Finland-based ceramist or visual artist at Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park. The residency provides an opportunity to work within an innovative and professional ceramic arts community.

Residency period: October–November (6 weeks)
Location: Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park, Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture, Japan
In collaboration with: Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park (SCCP)

Covered Expenses

The Institute covers the artist’s travel and accommodation costs, agreed materials and shipping costs, and provides a workspace at SCCP.

Additional Information

Visual artists are expected to have an interest in ceramics or Shigaraki culture.

The artist is expected to submit a report on the outcomes of the residency. In addition, a small exhibition may be organised based on the artist’s work in Shigaraki.
