Cultural Collaboration at the Finnish Institute in Japan

  • We promote the visibility of Finnish art and support the work of arts intermediaries in Japan.
  • We build and strengthen long-term collaboration between Finnish and Japanese arts and cultural organisations.
  • We foster dialogue between the arts and the sciences and promote the visibility of Finnish artistic research.

  • We provide information on funding opportunities for artistic and cultural collaboration between Finland and Japan.
We support residency visits to Japan by artists, cultural professionals and researchers from or based in Finland.
pARTir Mobility Support promotes opportunities for performing artists to travel and perform internationally.
We offer Finnish language courses and conversation classes throughout the year, both online and in person.
Every year, we organise Hallå Tokyo!, a week dedicated to Finland-Swedish culture.
Imagine Everyday! Outsider Art Finland on the 29th Nov – 26th Dec, is a showcase for Finnish outsider arts organised in collaboration with HERALBONY, Pertin Valinta (Pertti’s Choice) and the Finnish Institute in Japan.
