Finnish Institute in Japan science program in 2024 will focus on research projects about

  • Finnish Artists’ villas and Japanese Sansou – their architecture and closeness with nature
  • Gustaf John Ramstedt (1873-1950) and the impact of his Japanese networks

Other science projects will include

  • AI seminars about arts, aging, climate change and ethics
  • Women’s empowerment
  • Well-being
  • Aging Seminar

The Institute will also continue

  • Strengthening collaboration between universities in Finland and Japan
  • Enhancing and supporting study cooperation between Finnish and Japanese universities and research institutions
  • Enhancing and supporting researcher mobility
  • Enhancing and supporting young researchers’ post-graduate opportunities
  • Enhancing and supporting student mobility
  • Enhancing communication

According to the Finnish Institute in Japan’s strategy in 2024 the themes will include AI, wellbeing, aging society, women’s empowerment and Finnish architecture.
