The Finnish Institute in Japan conducts research related to its areas of operation and the priorities defined in its strategy. They are:
- Future prospects for culture, science and technology (artificial intelligence)
- Changing society, environment and culture
- Good life, well-being and the environment
- Empowering women
- Aging population
- History of the Finnish-Japanese relations
The focus of research projects in 2021 will be on the empowerment of women, the aging population and the related use of artificial intelligence. In addition, the Institute continues its research on on the Japanese networks of Gustaf John Ramstedt (1873-1950), Finland’s first envoy to Japan. The research results will be published on this site and are expected by the end of the year.
