The core of the Institute's activities is science. We conduct science communication, strengthen partnerships, and explore collaboration opportunities with new actors. Regional outreach and outcome measurement are considered in the activities.

The goals of the science activities are:

  • Building and strengthening long-term collaboration between Finnish and Japanese universities
  • Increasing and supporting researcher collaboration and mobility between Finnish and Japanese higher education institutions and research institutes
  • Increasing and supporting opportunities for postgraduate studies for students and young researchers
  • Diverse science communication and knowledge dissemination
We organize scientific seminars and events where Finnish and Japanese experts come together, sparking societal discussions on current topics.
The Institute's research projects are based on the topics specified in the strategy.
The Finnish Institute in Japan is organizing monthly Science Tuesday lectures.
