CREATIVE AGING: Approaches to cultural participation in later life
Hybrid Seminar, 6 October 2022
The International House of Japan
In Finland and Japan, the amount of people aged over 65 years is rapidly increasing. This age group is actively participating in various kinds of cultural activities, but the group’s specific needs, for example in terms of accessibility, are often neglected. How can super-aged societies (where more than 20% of the total population is aged 65 years or older) create equal opportunities for cultural participation for all ages? How could these specific needs be implemented in the planning of cultural programs?
In this seminar, held both online and at the International House of Japan, Japanese and Finnish researchers presented their projects focusing on creativity, multi-generational understanding, and lifelong learning.
